Olliver Young is a graduate of Castleton University earning a BA in Theater Arts with a concentration in Technical Theater and Design. His professional goals include working as a general theater technician and artist as well as furthering his education in lighting and scenic design.

Responsibilities: Support all departments as needed during load-in/out and show, organize gear, supervise packing and lining of trucks, supervise/instruct local crew on safe handling, and build of all gear and scenery, supervise build of video wall, organize deck layout, train local crew on show run responsibilities, fill in for absent touring crew members, train new touring crew on show-run responsibilities as needed. Positions trained in: full props track (load in/out, continuity, and show run), full assistant lx track (load in/out, continuity, and show run [2 spot call and running 3rd spot]), 2 deck carpentry tracks (load in/out, continuity, and show run), partially trained in A2 load in/out, continuity, and show run, partially trained in flyman load in/out, and continuity

designing a light plot, hanging/focusing lights from a light plot, programming intelligent and conventional fixtures on ETC lightboards, troubleshooting signal flow issues

SCENIC/CARPENTRY

Creating a ground plan and elevations using hand-drafting and Vectorworks, creating a production model, comfortable with power tools and saws, experience with foam carving, making a cut list, building flats, MIG welding, and scenic painting skills including wood graining, bricks, rocks, and marbling, experience with building, buying, borrowing, and pulling props, comfortable maintaining organization of props utilizing prop tracking, prop tables, and prop cabinets

DESIGN

Production design experience with lighting and scenic. Classroom design experience with scenic, lighting, costume, and hair and make-up. Comfortable with design processes. Knowledge of hand drafting and CAD using Vectorworks.
